Fasting , Autophagy and You

I was introduced to the word Fasting in Childhood and to the word Autophagy in 2016 , when Japanese Scientist got a Nobel prize for it. I understood the meaning of both these phenomena when I did some self study  on them and I experienced both at a health retreat.   So , What is Fasting and Autophagy ? This is what I have learned and experienced .  1) Meaning of Fasting :  Total abstention from taking any kind food is known as “fasting” . It is an essential not to take any solid or liquid food, cereals , fruits and sometimes even water during the fast.  But, since childhood , I have observed many forms and practices  of fasting from people around me. I remained confused until I actually did a full day dry fast. I mean fast even with water. Likewise , I have seen keeping different connotations and levels of beliefs about the what the meaning of Fasting. Some of them confused it with starvation and hunger. They simply refused to allow their body and soul experience “fasting” just becau

What is Vermiponics

Since, many decades Vermicomposting has been used for managing organic waste. The biggest advantage of using vermi-compost is that you are able to take full advantage of benificial microbial activity in soil and nutrition that come out of earth worm gut. In this article , we will learn how vermicompost can be used in systems of soilless gardening such as Hydroponics. Earthworms have great ability to increase bio-avalibility of plant nutrient. It ingest ingest plant growth-promoting rhizospheric bacteria such as Pseudomonas, Rhizobium, Bacillus, Azosprillium, Azotobacter, etc. along with rhizospheric soil. This activity automatically increase the population of these benifical bacteria in the soil which leads to abdunace of growth promoting bacteria and enzymes. Pseudomonas bacteria helps plants to become more strong and promote growth. The Bacillus ,Azotobacter and Rhizobium bacteria fixes nitrogen from the environment for plants and promotes growth in plant.Azosprillium induces b

Can Artificial Intelligence identify "Taste?

There is lot of debate these days about Artificial Intelligence (A.I). A large scientific community expects that in coming year’s lot of the problems that are bothering humankind can be solved with help of A.I. Let us discuss whether Artificial Intelligence identifies "Taste" such sweet , bitter , sour etc.,. For building a “taste identification system” we will need computer aided “Taste Buds”. These artificial taste buds will require some kind hardware instrumentation that can get stimuli from the food item such as lemon and give response. The artificial taste buds should in fact first be able to identify “Food Items “, from where it can get idea about the taste. For recognition of the food items such as fruits, vegetables an image processing based system can build and from its database, the taste signature can by just be displayed characteristics of the Food and taste is one the characteristic of a food. However, this is does not qualify a sophisticated artificia

Gobar Brick , Cow Dung and Tiles

Houses that  are heat resistant both in winter and Summer are rare these days. As we grow the socio-economic  ladder  , we want to live in a pucca  house made of cement. In-fact , We want every thing "Permanent ", "Ever Lasting"  things in life. Forgetting that  Every thing in this world is transient. We want to make a pucca house that the next generation does not like and they want to change the design of house , buy new furniture , buy new bed sheets curtains and in-fact the new generation keep coming back  and ask was  change in house itself. Some even go beyond  They want to move to new better places not just for jobs but for better life. Yet ,we want to make a pucca houses . A house that lasts generations.. Mobility is key factor in remaining employable these days. You find thousands of houses vacant just because the residents have moved away to make better living. Yet we want have house that lasts for ever. We never buy a Car , we the thought that it w

What is Bioreactor for a Gardener

One is the biggest problem a gardener faces is "Composting ". For most of the gardeners is a laborious work which many gardeners prefer to ignore or out source. In this article we shall try to overcome this challenge by making a "Bioreactor". So , what is a Bioreactor ? For a gardener, It is an setup in which is specially made for growing bacteria , fungi , protozoa ,nematodes etc. This apparatuses is only for those who believe in natural science of gardening and farming. It is for those who love to do gardening and farming with help of fungi , bacteria and other beneficial microbes and they want to multiply them for building a better ecological system. Aren't We already doing composting. Isn't that a Bioreactor ? Yes , you are right a composting bin or pit is a Bioreactor. Lets listen to the Pod Cast and Know the in detail Highlights : 1) Understanding basic meaning of Bioreactor for Gardeners 2) How Bioreactor is an En

What is Bioponics

Bioponics is a system where multiple kind of  micro life forms are used for growing tasty food.  This methods comes under a spectrum of operations that can be achieved without the use of soil.  It is a method of exposing plants with biological live water. By biological “live” , it is meant that fungi, bacteria and other microorganisms are freely living in the water and are feeding on the organic material contained in the water. There is food for the microorganism and the same food is turned into high bio-available nutrient for the plants   How is it done ?  1) The set of the Bioponics is similar to any  typical hydroponics system that has circulatory system of sending water and nutrition . 2) The plant's parts such as the root-stem, leaves are exposed to the specially prepared Bioponics solution that maintains sufficient biological activity levels in the water. The   3) The Bioponics solution is basically made of decomposing organic material in water unlike

Improving the survival rate of plantation drives

Rainy season is the best season for the plantation, but we can grow plants in almost all seasons to keep the earth green. Tree planting is typical an annual event during rainy seasons. It is an opportunity to do noble –social – environment work and get photographed for news items. Once, the drive ends the plants are left at the mercy of abiotic and biotic stresses. This article gives simple methodology to reduce the mortality of sampling from the beginning and effective use of organic waste, even if someone lacks experience in maintaining tree saplings. Research shows that if soil contains 50% organic material such as dead wood, grass, leaves, branches and other decaying natural material, it is a perfect recipe for growing plants without much human intervention. Using this fact, we can increase the survival rate of plants saplings, especially when the plant drives are conducted in urban areas. Improving the survival rate of plantation drives  Secondly, the following law of
